Summer time is just around the corner which means for many a busy time filled with vacations, picnics, summer activities & kids at home from school. As an Avon representative, you may come to see that this is there “slow period”. For me, my sales stayed about the same last year. However, due to a difficult pregnancy, I was not working my business like I can this year.
Below are tips that I have come to find through experience & research that will help me make sure that my sales not only continue to grow, but will ensure I will have an amazing foundation going into the 4th quarter (CHRISTMAS TIME!).
As a direct seller, it is important to be consistent & maintain a routine with your business. This will help provide security for your customers. They will be able to get into a routine of when they will receive their Avon brochures & when orders are due. Staying consistent during the summer will help them. For example, if they know they will be on vacation the week you normally submit an order, they will place their order before they leave to ensure they will have everything all set for when they come back.
Being consistent in a routine will help keep your sanity as well. Being a mom of 5 boys, I can tell you we live on a strict schedule, even in the summer. If we don’t, our day would be filled with chaos & I would be dealing with bored, cranky kids. Maintaining a routine in the summer for your business will help you be able to manage it & still be able to enjoy your summer activities & vacations. Knowing when things need to get done, can help you be better prepared & ready for whatever comes your way this summer.

The number 1 tip as an Avon representative is to, as Theresa Paul says, “FU” (Follow Up). Summertime can be very busy & chaotic for people so make sure you still follow up with your customers & anyone new you spoke to about your business a few days before your order goes in to remind them. They are more likely to forget during the summertime to place their order. I know for me, it is a guarantee 2-3 orders if not more I get each campaign the day orders are due. When I wasn’t reminding my customers, I wasn’t getting those results. So I make sure, I don’t care what is going on that I contact each person who received a brochure that campaign whether it’s through phone call, text message, email or even Facebook Messenger.
Utilize your e-Store
Summertime is a great time to really promote your e-Store so you can start building your online sales. This will minimize the work you have to do & for some customers, this may be easier for them to shop when & where they want all summer long. With the new earnings structure, you now earn the same on your online sales as you would with brochure sales so why not do less work for the same amount of money! Promote summer products
If you are looking for a way to grow your sales totals this summer, this is the way to go! Promote all the wonderful summer products Avon has to offer. Use them yourself, share on your social media, recommend products to your customer, etc. Between Avon Living: A Summer to Savor magalog, summer bath & body products like Skin So Soft Summer Soft or the *NEW* mark. by Avon Havana Sol Collection, there is something for every customer & every person you talk to about your business with. Let people know the variety of quality, affordable products they can get with Avon THROUGH YOU!
Take your brochures/samples where ever you go- even on vacation!
If you are like me, you are never home during the summer. You are either taking a trip to the park, going on a day trip with your family, attending a picnic or going on a vacation. I know there are probably a hand full of days all summer long we are home doing nothing & it’s usually because of the weather. Create summer samplers to hand out to those you talk to when you are out and have brochures ready to give to potential customers. Even if you are on vacation miles away from home (label your e-Store link & promote your online store!). This is a great way to grow your customer base, get sales during the summer & create an amazing foundation for Christmas season in the 4th quarter.

Do events or yard sale
In my area, during the summer every weekend you will find fairs, tag sales/yard sales, events & all kinds of out door activities that vendors can participate in & showcase their business. Even if you are a new representative or are unable to find a local event to sign up for, create your own event. Do a Home Party in your’s or a friend’s home. Find a theme that your friends & family will enjoy like a “Spa Day”. Let them know that if they bring a friend who don’t have a current Avon rep they will be entered to win a FREE product or they will receive a discount off their order. Parties are one way to be creative with your business!
Parties aren’t your style? Have an Avon table at your own yard sale. Get rid of unwanted household items & share your business at the same time. I know in my local area, we love our yard sales! I recently did a yard sale with my family & I ended up earning $50 profit in two days & gained two new customers who placed orders later on that week.
You don’t need to have an abundance of full size products to have a successful event. The only thing I recommend is to make sure you have plenty of samples & brochures. People will be more willing to purchase something if they can try it, especially if the item is not right in front of them. Having brochures will allow the potential customer(s) to walk away with something.
Also, have a way to collect people’s contact information at whatever event you choose to do. I use the survey card you can find on youravon.com & have people fill them out to be entered into a FREE raffle. Like I said, PEOPLE LOVE FREE. Remember, the purpose of these are to gain customers who will place orders, a chance for you to share your business with others and maybe recruit a new representative. Basically you are NETWORKING.
Do a referral promotion
Ask your current customers to help you out! Do a referral promotion during the summer & give each of your customers 2-3 brochures for them to share. Even if you can’t afford to purchase the extra brochures, you can just ask your customers to share their brochure with their friends & family. Personally, when I do a referral promotion, I offer a discount for the referral & the referree. This motivates my customers to share & motivates their friends & family to place an order. Even if you offer a 10% off discount for $20+ order, have some type of referral promotion can help you keep your sales going during the summer & build your customer base as I’ve said, building a great foundation for the 4th quarter.
Do a summer customer appreciation event
Customers love appreciation events/promotional offers. Why? Because they normally end up getting free products or discounts on their orders. What consumer wouldn’t love that? I know I love FREE!
I am very excited about the summer promotional offer I am doing this year. My upline shared a video on our team page on how to make DIY Scratch Offs! Yes I know! Isn’t that amazing! I don’t have all the details figured out yet, but basically my customers will receive scratch offs with their orders that will have prizes like free Avon products, coupons, gift certificates, discounts & any other prize I come up with from now until then. Like I said…ISN’T THIS AMAZING!
I know for me I am very excited about the summer & what I have planned to grow my business while enjoying the time with my kids.
